A man has been arrested after a police pursuit that ended in a crash at Narraweena.
Just after 12.45pm Friday, 31 January, officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command spotted a black Mercedes sedan at Boundary Street, Roseville, that had been reported stolen following an earlier alleged break-in at a residential property at Killara.
The alleged thief had climbed through the bedroom window of a house at Killara Avenue, Killara, where he was confronted by the occupant of the home. Following a standoff in which the occupant of the home called police, the man allegedly stole the Mercedes and fled from the property.

After spotting the sedan at Roseville, police signalled for the vehicle to stop, which it allegedly failed to do, initiating a high-speed pursuit towards the Northern Beaches.
Police terminated the pursuit when the stolen car was involved in a crash with another vehicle at Boundary Street, Roseville. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, and the stolen Mercedes continued to evade police.
A short time later, officers from Northern Beaches Traffic and Highway Patrol Command spotted the stolen vehicle travelling along Warringah Road, Beacon Hill, near Beacon Hill Road, and re-engaged the pursuit.

The Mercedes turned into Consul Road North, Narraweena, a dead-end street, and was involved in a second crash which disabled the vehicle. With police in immediate pursuit, the 23-year-old male driver was arrested and taken to Manly Police Station to assist police with inquiries.
The 23-year-old man was charged with seven offences:
- aggravated break and enter
- take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- police pursuit — not stop — drive dangerously
- not give particulars to owner of damaged property (two counts)
- refuse oral sample, and
- unlicensed driver
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court.
