Two boys were arrested at Dee Why after a police pursuit of a stolen car.
Just after 2.45am this morning (Sunday, 24 November), officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command were patrolling Plateau Road, Collaroy Plateau, when they spotted a car that had allegedly been stolen from a property at Collaroy.
Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, alleging it failed to stop, and the car containing two teenage male occupants sped away from them. Officers initiated a pursuit that was quickly terminated for safety reasons.
Around ten minutes later, the car was located at Lynwood Avenue, Dee Why. They arrested a 16-year-old boy near the scene and pursued a second 16-year-old boy on foot along Fisher Road, Dee Why, who was arrested a short time later. Both of the arrested teens were taken to Manly Police Station.
One of the 16-year-old boys was charged with police pursuit — not stop — drive recklessly, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and never licensed person drive vehicle on road. He was refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court tomorrow (Monday, 25 November 2024).
A NSW Police spokesperson said the second boy will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
