A man has been charged for drink-driving after leaving a trail of destruction at Collaroy Plateau.
Just after 8.45pm Sunday evening (14 December), NSW Police were called to reports of a vehicle colliding with multiple parked cars at Idaline and Telopea Streets, Collaroy Plateau.
Hearing a loud crash, residents at Telopea Street came out to allegedly see a white 2019 Isuzu D-Max utility (ute) with prominent company markings allegedly driving away after a collision with a parked white 2024 Volkswagen (VW) Polo sedan.

The VW had been significantly damaged (image above), as had the front passenger wheel of the Isuzu (image below), which was now scraping on the ground and sending out sparks as it drove off.
One resident, who saw the Isuzu drive off, jumped in their Mitsubishi Pajero and gave chase. They were joined by two teenage girls in a Toyota Hilux who saw the sparks flying and also began following the Isuzu.
They followed the Isuzu as it led them on a path from Telopea Street onto Plateau Road, into Anzac Avenue, Collaroy, then Hendy Avenue, then Kent Street, onto Ocean Grove, before coming to a dead-end at Worcester Street.
The Isuzu then reversed course, heading back to Anzac Avenue, then Kent Street and finally Hendy Avenue, Collaroy, where it collided with a silver 2008 Holden Commodore sedan and came to a stop (image below).

The teens who had been following in the Toyota Hilux pulled in front of the Isuzu to prevent it moving forward, while the Pajero pulled in behind it to box it in and wait for police to arrive (image below). There were two occupants in the Isuzu, a 39-year-old male driver and his pet dog, a pug.
Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command arrived shortly after, speaking with the Isuzu driver while the two girls took his pet dog into their care.

The driver was subject to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result. He was arrested at the scene (main image), and with his dog, was taken to Dee Why Police Station for a secondary breath analysis, which returned an alleged mid range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol (PCA) reading of 0.083.
The 39-year-old male driver was charged with:
- Negligent driving, under Section 117(1)(c) of the Road Transport Act, which carries a penalty of up to $1,100
- Two counts of not give particulars to owner of damaged property, under Section 287(2) of the Road Rules Act, which carries a penalty of up to $2,200 for each count
- Drive with middle range PCA, under Section 110 of the Road Transport Act, which carries a penalty of up to nine months imprisonment and a $2,200 fine for a first offence
The man was given conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on Thursday, 05 February 2026.
