A woman was taken to hospital after falling from a horse on a fire trail.
Just after 9.30am yesterday morning (Wednesday, 05 August), NSW Ambulance and NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) responded to a report of a rider thrown from a horse on the Perimeter Trail, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
The 20-year-old female horse rider was able to phone Triple Zero (000), telling the call taker she was approximately one kilometre (1km) along the fire trail from the entry off Cullamine Road, Duffys Forest.

The young woman had been thrown from the horse when it reared suddenly, landing on the ground on her buttocks, and hitting her head. Fortunately, her horse riding helmet had protected her and she did not lose consciousness.
Mountain bike riders stopped to assist her, as paramedics and RFS volunteers made their way along the fire trail in four-wheel drive vehicles. She was placed onto a stretcher and assessed for injuries to her left hip and lower back.

Her helmet had been damaged in the fall and she complained of some pain to the rear of her head, but did not appear to be experiencing any spinal issues and was able to freely move all her limbs.
The rescue party returned her around 1km to the trailhead, where she was taken by NSW Ambulance in a stable condition to Royal North Shore Hospital just before 10.45am.
A friend took her horse into their care to return it safely home.
