Community housing provider Link Wentworth has awarded grants to help social housing residents to build independence.

30 social housing residents from the Northern Beaches were among those who recently received education and career grants from Link Wentworth. The grants from the not-for-profit community housing provider aim to help their residents advance personal, professional and career goals.

“If it wasn’t for the scholarship, I would be isolated. I’m now able to contribute and participate in the community. I have been able to study at TAFE and purchase the equipment I need for the course. This time last year I didn’t have a Diploma, now I have one,” said Linda proudly.

Link Wentworth Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andrew McAnulty (image above) said the scholarship program removes barriers that prevent residents from reaching their potential.

“We believe everyone deserves access to learning, opportunity, and a pathway to achieving their goals.

“These scholarships not only provide practical support, but they also bring our community together, celebrating ambition, inspiring each other, and recognising the incredible achievements of our residents,” said Mr McAnulty.

The Link Wentworth Scholarship Program has contributed more than $1.2m in grants since it began in 2010, giving residents access to lifelong learning opportunities.

The funding provides residents with a wide range of supports, including essential study materials, new uniforms, tutoring sessions, driving lessons, TAFE and university fees, employment-related training, creative development, and personal growth activities.

Funds to support the grants are made available through public donations to Link Wentworth’s annual Home Sweet event (video above) and through the Commonwealth Government via the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF).

“The HAFF funding enables community housing providers like Link Wentworth, to deliver safe and affordable homes that build stronger communities,” said Mr McAnulty.

The 2025 Link Wentworth Scholarship Awards ceremony was held at Club Parramatta, Macquarie Street, Parramatta, on Tuesday, 09 December. The Northern Beaches recipients were among 257 Sydneysiders who were celebrated at the event, making them the largest cohort in the program’s 15-year history.
