A man has been charged after he allegedly ran down another man following a two-car collision at Belrose.
Just after 2.00pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 24 September), NSW Police and NSW Ambulance responded to a report of a person hit by a vehicle at Forest Way, Belrose, near Glen Street.
On arrival, they were told that the injured 27-year-old male had been the driver of a black Volkswagen Polo that had been involved in a collision with a black BYD Shark utility driven by a middle-aged male.

The drivers appear to have pulled over and become involved in a dispute following the collision. The older male allegedly took a mobile phone from the younger man’s possession and drove away from the scene, colliding with the younger man in the process, sending him flying around 10m.
The male driver in the BYD utility allegedly failed to stop and render assistance after hitting the younger man, and did not provide his details at the scene.
NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the 27-year-old for injuries to his right side, including bruises, cuts and abrasions as well as a dislocated right shoulder. He was treated and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition just before 3.00pm.

Detectives attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended the scene and commenced an investigation into the identity of the older male.
A short time later, a 45-year-old man attended Frenchs Forest Police Station, where he was arrested and taken to Manly Police Station to further assist police with their inquiries.
There, he was charged with:
- Injury caused by furious driving, under Section 53 of the NSW Crimes Act, which carries a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment
- Intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm, under Section 13 of the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act, which carries a fine of up to $5,500 and up to five years’ imprisonment
- Robbery or stealing from a person in circumstances of aggravation, under Section 95 of the Crimes Act, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment
- Not give required particulars to other driver involved in a crash, under Section 287 of the Road Rules Act, which carries a fine of up to $2,200

Northern Beaches Police Area Command Crime Manager, Acting Inspector Nicole Turner, said police will allege in court the 27-year-old man had stopped his car at traffic lights at the intersection of Forest Way and Glen Street, Belrose, when his vehicle was struck from behind by the black BYD utility.
“Following the collision, the driver of the utility allegedly threatened the man before stealing his mobile phone as he attempted to record the interaction.
“It is further alleged the driver then reversed his vehicle before accelerating towards the victim, striking him and causing him to be thrown several metres onto a median strip.
“The alleged incident was witnessed by a member of the public who followed the vehicle and provided information to police,” said Acting Inspector Turner.
The 45-year-old man was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday, 14 October 2026.
If the matter remains before Manly Local Court, the maximum penalty that can be imposed on each charge is two years. For the maximum custodial penalties to be imposed, the prosecutor would need to apply for the matters to be heard at District Court.
