Police are hunting for a group of youths who allegedly assaulted and robbed a teen at Collaroy.

Shortly before 5.15pm yesterday evening (Monday, 03 July), officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command were called to a report of a 15-year-old boy assaulted at Griffith Park at Anzac Avenue, Collaroy.

Upon arrival, police officers were told that a group of between 10-15 youths had accosted the 15-year-old boy, before he was allegedly punched and kicked several times and pulled to the ground by an unknown male in the group.

It is alleged that the unknown male then stole the 15-year-old’s shoes, before the whole group left the scene. The injured teen called for assistance and it is understood the boy’s mother also came to the scene.

The 15-year-old boy was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for injuries to his face and head. He was treated and taken to Northern Beaches Hospital in a stable condition.

At least four police units responded to the incident scene, fanning out into surrounding streets and searching the beachfront with spotlights from their vehicles in an attempt to locate the group of youths.

A NSW Police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation has commenced, asking that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information as to the identity of the alleged assailants contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
