A man has been charged with drink driving over a crash at Manly that left a woman seriously injured.

Just after 3.00pm this afternoon (Friday, 24 June) emergency services were called to a report of a collision between a car and motorcycle at Pittwater Road, Manly, near Collingwood Street.

A 26-year-old female motorbike rider had come off her bike and was on the ground, following a collision with a car. She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, complaining of pain in her back and blurry vision. Paramedics took spinal and pelvic precautions, taking the woman to Royal North Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended the scene and commenced an investigation. They spoke with the 50-year-old male driver of the car, who was not injured. The man was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading.

Police officers arrested the man at the scene and took him to Manly Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis which returned an alleged high-range reading of 0.223.

The man from Northmead in Sydney’s West had his licence suspended and was issued a Court Attendance Notice for high-range PCA. He is required to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday, 03 August 2022.
