NSW Police have arrested a man following a crime spree that included the Northern Beaches.

A 40-year-old man will face court later this month charged over several alleged break and enter offences over a two-week period across Sydney.

Strike Force Yapok was established by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad to investigate a dozen alleged break and enter offences between May and June this year (2022). In chronological order, these included:

  • An attempted break and enter at a business at Kenthurst Road, Kenthurst, around 9.45pm Sunday, 22 May
  • An attempted break and enter at a restaurant at Newline Road, Dural, around 3.00am Monday, 23 May
  • A robbery at a retail store at Levey Street, Wolli Creek, around 4.10pm Friday, 03 June
  • An attempted break and enter at a service station at Windsor Road, Northmead, shortly before 5.00am Saturday, 04 June
  • A robbery at a service station at The Crescent, Toongabbie, around 15 minutes later (Saturday, 04 June)
  • A robbery at a pharmacy at Northern Road, Luddenham, around 12.30am Sunday, 05 June
  • An attempted break and enter at a service station at Bringelly Road, Leppington, around 12.50am Sunday, 05 June
  • A robbery at a service station at Pittwater Road, North Manly, shortly after 4.00am Sunday, 05 June
  • A robbery at a service station at Warringah Road, Forestville, around an hour later (Sunday 05 June)
  • A robbery at a service station at Pacific Highway, Berowra, around 4.35am Tuesday, 07 June
  • A robbery at a service station at Woolooware Road, Woolooware, around 3.50am Wednesday, 08 June
  • A robbery at a restaurant at Forest Road, Peakhurst, around an hour later (Wednesday, 08 June)

Following inquiries, strike force investigators stopped a Mitsubishi Outlander in a car park outside a licensed premise at Sherwood Road, Merrylands, around 3.10am Thursday, 09 June. Officers arrested a 40-year-old man at the scene and took him to Granville Police Station.

The man was charged with eight counts of break and enter dwelling, and five counts of attempt break and enter dwelling.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court yesterday (Saturday, 11 June) where he was formally bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, 23 June 2022.

As investigations continue, detectives have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries. He is depicted wearing a light-coloured hooded jumper and joggers.
