Duffys Forest Rural Fire Brigade has been promised a $500k upgrade if the government is re-elected.

Member for Mackellar Jason Falinski made the election promise to rebuild the Northern Beaches Rural Fire Service station at Duffys Forest as the contest against Independent challenger Dr Sophie Scamps heats up.

The funds will be allocated to the construction of a new single-storey station, which will include truck parking for up to four vehicles, a cleaning area, utility room, bathrooms, kitchen, media room and entry area.

Mr Falinski said the funding is about protecting lives and making sure we have a strong response to natural disasters.

“These upgrades make our community not only resilient but safer. The best thing we can do to support our Rural Fire Service is to give them the infrastructure and resources they need.

“It will also support the essential training of our Rural Fire Brigade volunteers right here on the Northern Beaches. The Rural Fire Brigade has been fighting for this project and only a re-elected Coalition Government will deliver on this key upgrade,” said Mr Falinski.

The upgrade will include two new rainwater tanks, hose drying post, external new lighting, new open hardstand, driveway access, ten vehicle parking spaces (including two accessible spots), on-site wastewater disposal system, an asset protection zone and stormwater trenching.

Mr Falinski said he has taken an interest in services in the Forest area, having successfully lobbied for the improvement of mobile phone services at Cottage Point and nearby Terrey Hills. He said the timeline of the construction would be planned in consultation with Northern Beaches Council.
