A driver had a lucky escape after their car flipped at Church Point this afternoon.

Just after 3.00pm Thursday, 04 November, emergency services were called to reports a car had rolled onto its roof at McCarrs Creek Road, Church Point.

Fortunately the driver, a woman in her 70s, was not seriously injured and was able to crawl out of the overturned vehicle.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Mona Vale and Narrabeen Stations and two NSW Ambulance crews were called to the scene along with NSW Police.

On arrival, paramedics assessed the woman who appeared to be suffering from shock but was not otherwise suffering serious injury.

The road was completely blocked to traffic in both directions for some time as the vehicle was cleared by tow trucks from an awkward location. According to emergency services, the vehicle remained largely intact following the low speed incident and firefighters reported that there was no fluid spills from the car onto the roadway.

A spokesman for NSW Ambulance said the driver was lucky to escape serious injury, and they understood she had been reversing out of a driveway when the incident happened. She was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital in a stable condition for observation.

It had been raining and the roadway was wet at the time of the incident.
