A woman critically injured in an accident at the Bilgola bends just under two weeks ago has died.
Just after 10.00am Friday, 16 July, two vehicles collided head-on at Barrenjoey Road, Bilgola Beach. The 79-year-old female driver of a Mazda 6 was critically injured in the accident. Rescue firefighters from Narrabeen Station had to remove the side of her vehicle so she could be released.
The CareFlight Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene and the woman was treated for spinal injuries and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition by intensive care paramedics. A spokesperson for NSW Police announced that unfortunately the woman died yesterday (Tuesday, 27 July).
The driver of the other vehicle, a Subaru Forester towing a trailer, was a 68-year-old man who was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with minor injuries.
Officers from the Northern Beaches Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam vision, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
