Traffic & Safety

  • Dee Why. Around 6.00am Saturday, 24 April, a vehicle rolled onto its roof at Pittwater Road, Dee Why near Warringah Road. Police were in attendance but no serious injuries were reported.
  • Mona Vale. 10.23am Saturday, 24 April, until 12.28pm, traffic lights at the intersection of Mona Vale Road and Foley Street, Mona Vale were flashing yellow. Traffic was affected in all directions.
  • Frenchs Forest. 12.45pm Saturday, 24 April, emergency services were called to reports a car had rolled at Hakea Avenue, Frenchs Forest. They found a two car accident, with two vehicle occupants out of the vehicles with no serious injuries. The vehicles were towed from the scene.
  • Mona Vale. 1.16pm Saturday, 24 April, until 2.49pm, emergency services attended a two vehicle accident at Pittwater Road, Mona Vale near Turimetta Street, which closed one northbound lane, causing heavy traffic conditions.
  • Seaforth. 5.54pm Monday, 26 April, until 7.00pm, emergency services were called to a motor vehicle accident at Clontarf Street, Seaforth near Frenchs Forest Road. Traffic was affected in both directions while the accident was cleared.
  • Belrose. 1.30pm Thursday, 29 April, emergency services were called to reports of a car crashed into a house at Childs Circuit, Belrose. The car had damaged a gas meter, which was made safe by the gas company. Nobody was reported injured in the accident.
  • Frenchs Forest. 1.46pm Thursday, 29 April, until 2.51pm, a two vehicle accident affected traffic in all directions at Warringah Road, Frenchs Forest near Wakehurst Parkway. A westbound lane was closed while the accident was cleared.
  • Terrey Hills. 12.30pm Friday, 30 April, emergency services responded to a single vehicle car accident at Booralie Road, Terrey Hills near Yulong Avenue. Nobody was reported injured and the vehicle was towed.
  • Balgowlah. 9.00pm Saturday, 01 May, until 7.00am Sunday, 02 May, two northbound lanes will be closed at Condamine Street, Balgowlah between Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation and Kenneth Road to allow for a large crane to be dismantled.

Theft

  • Ingleside. A parcel delivered to a home at Walter Road, Ingleside was reported stolen on Tuesday, 27 April, after an enquiry about missing delivery was responded to with a photo proving the parcel had been delivered and placed in the letterbox. It was not there when the resident had returned home.
  • Avalon Beach. Overnight Tuesday, 27 April, a Ford Territory was broken into at Avalon Parade, Avalon Beach. Camera gear and clothing was stolen.

Vandalism

  • Avalon Beach. Having just been cleaned of graffiti, the laneway near Avalon Post Office has been covered in graffiti again early this week.

Fire & Rescue

  • Terrey Hills. Around 10.00pm Friday, 23 April, the NSW Rural Fire Service attended a car fire at Yulong Avenue, Terrey Hills.
  • Terrey Hills. 9.30am Saturday, 24 April, Terrey Hills RFS conducted a hazard control burn at Kallaroo Road, Terrey Hills.
  • Manly. 1.15pm Saturday, 24 April, emergency services were called to reports of an injured person at Collins Beach, Manly. They found a young adult male with a left ankle fracture. NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Police were all in attendance to assist with the extrication by stretcher.
  • Killarney Heights. Monday, 26 April, a hazard reduction burn was conducted at Killarney Heights. NSW Rural Fire Service, including Belrose brigade (main image) were in control of the burn.
  • Dee Why. 11.00am Wednesday, 28 April, Fire and Rescue NSW Dee Why Station responded to reports of a gas leak at Howard Avenue, Dee Why. The gas supplier Jemena also responded to the scene, clamping the supply leak.
  • Avalon. Just after 1.30pm Thursday, 29 April, emergency services were called to reports of an unconscious female at a bus stop at Barrenjoey Road, Avalon Beach. The woman was treated at the scene for a minor injury and transported to hospital by NSW Ambulance.
  • Weather permitting, hazard reduction burns planned for this weekend:
    • Smiths Creek East Trail, Terrey Hills. 125ha managed by NPWS, RFS.
    • Corymbia Circuit, Frenchs Forest/Oxford Falls. 2.57ha managed by RFS.
    • Bates Creek, Killarney Heights. 20.3ha managed by NPWS, RFS.

Beach & Waterways

  • Saturday, 24 April, a number of beaches were closed due to hazardous conditions including, Whale, Bilgola, Bungan, Mona Vale, South Narrabeen, Long Reef, Dee Why, North Curl Curl, Freshwater, Queenscliff and North Steyne.
  • Broken Bay. Saturday morning, 24 April, Marine Rescue Broken Bay assisted a 6m vessel at Little Box Head at Broken Bay. Careful navigation was required to traverse the breaking water and tow the vessel safely.
  • Pittwater. Saturday afternoon, 24 April, NSW Water Police and Marine Rescue Broken Bay were called to assist a medical emergency involving a young woman who suffered a head injury in a collision between two boats near Scotland Island at Pittwater. She was taken to Taylors Point Wharf for transport to hospital.
  • The beach patrol season ended last Sunday, 25 April, with flags coming down across the beaches, except Dee Why and Freshwater which will continue patrols until the end of May, and Manly which remains patrolled all year. The patrol season resumes in September.

Health Alert

  • Allambie Heights. Sewage samples tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, 21 April and Tuesday, 27 April, have detected fragments of the virus at the Allambie Heights sewage facility, which serves the suburbs of Allambie Heights, Balgowlah, Curl Curl, North Curl Curl, North Manly, Freshwater, Collaroy, Collaroy Plateau, Narrabeen, Wheeler Heights, Oxford Falls, Dee Why, Cromer, Beacon Hill, Narraweena, Brookvale and Frenchs Forest. NSW Health are asking all residents of these areas to monitor for any symptoms of COVID-19 and even with the mildest of symptoms to get tested and self-isolate immediately.

  • Friday, 30 April, 9.39am – 11.00am – Sydney Water reported a disruption to water supply at Dalwood Avenue, Seaforth.
