Shortly before 6.00pm tonight (Sunday, 15 November) emergency services were called to reports of a paraglider who had crashed into the water at cliffs near Warriewood Beach.
A 91-year-old man was paragliding off the headland at Warriewood when he came down in the water off rocks south of Warriewood Surf Club.
The man was assisted back onto the rocks by people who witnessed the accident. He sustained a cut to his left calf and an injury to his left wrist.
NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Toll Air Ambulance attended the scene.
The air ambulance was on standby to winch the man from the rocks but he was checked over by paramedics and assisted up the steep cliff face in a harness by emergency services.
The parachute and engine have been retrieved from the water. The man will be transported by road to hospital for treatment.
