The Manly Jazz Festival will be a virtual event this year.
Mayor Michael Regan said the Manly Jazz Festival was a highlight of the events calendar which attracts thousands of jazz lovers to Manly Beach each year.
However, in late June, Northern Beaches Council announced the cancellation of the event due to COVID-19 restrictions, deciding it would not be possible to hold the popular event in the usual way this year.
Instead, the Manly Jazz Festival will now go online over the October Labour Day long weekend in a digital initiative that will ‘connect, inspire and entertain’ the community, according to Northern Beaches Council.
“We might not be able to get together this year, but we can still enjoy some incredible artists on the dedicated Manly Jazz Festival website,” said Mayor Regan.
“While we cannot welcome audiences to a live performance this year, we are committed to offering the best in entertainment, arts, and culture online.
“Behind the scenes the team, including the Manly Jazz Festival committee, is working hard to secure artists and the program will be announced shortly.
“I hope this new digital format of a much-loved event will connect, inspire and comfort people during this challenging time,” he said.
