Suspicious circumstances surround the recent death of a puppy found with head injuries at Freshwater.

The owner of Coco, a six-month-old female chocolate Labrador, returned to their home at Cobbadah Place, Freshwater about 3.15pm Tuesday, 01 September, to discover their puppy injured and unresponsive in the backyard.

Coco was immediately taken to the local vet, however she died as a result of her injuries.

The incident was reported to Officers from the Northern Beaches Area Command who were subsequently advised by the vet that X-rays confirmed the puppy had a fractured skull.

An investigation into the cause of the puppy’s death is now underway. Police are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact Dee Why Police Station on 02 9971 3399 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
