Council has announced $250k of funding for community events.
Community organisations are encouraged to apply for grants and fee waivers which can range from $500 — $50k.
Many events have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 restrictions. Council is seeking to support ‘a range of diverse and exciting events’ across the Northern Beaches.
Council says the aim of the grants is to support events that showcase local talent, deliver new experiences, promote the Northern Beaches as a destination and build awareness of community and place.
Mayor Michael Regan said community events inspire a sense of pride and bonding among residents, as well as providing a boost to the local economy.
“We have a proud history of hosting popular and entertaining events, and we are always looking for innovative events to run throughout the year to complement Council’s already rich schedule of annual events,” Mayor Regan said.
Events will need to meet state health orders in force at the time and COVID-19 safety plans before final approval will be given. Grants are available for new or recurring events.
The funding is being released in two rounds, with the first round open for applications until 31 August 2020 for events held between 01 November 2020 and 31 August 2021. Successful applicants will be announced by 27 October 2020.
